Where He leads us we will follow

Mar 10:15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

Luk 8:1 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the
kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,

The message of the Kingdom was right at the heart of Christ's teaching from the very beginning. The four Gospels use the term "
kingdom of God" in 53 verses. The gospel Jesus Christ brought is clearly about this Kingdom..
Jesus called the twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the
kingdom of God and to heal the sick" (Luke 9:1-2)

In Luke 10 he sent seventy others aside from the disciples. Jesus told the seventy to proclaim, "The
kingdom of God has come near to you"

Look at the beatitudes. The message of the Kingdom comes across there.

Mat 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ………….
5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Do you see what our Lord says here? The commandments apply today just the same.

5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
5:18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
5:20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
The key to our understanding of seeking and living in the promises of God is contained in the following words of our Lord. We need not be anxious about tomorrow what we shall eat or drink or anything.

Jesus said “But seek first the
kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Mat 6:33) We have a responsibility, we are instructed by our Lord to seek first the Kingdom and all these things will be added unto us. Seeking to enter the Kingdom of God should be our top priority.

Jesus used parables to illustrate aspects of the Kingdom. (Matthew chapters 13, 20, 22, 25; Luke chapters 13, 19) In some of His last words before His crucifixion, He remarked to His disciples that He would not partake of the emblems until He would once again do so "with you in My Father's kingdom" (Matthew 26:29).

Over a 40-day period immediately after His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ was seen by His followers. Notice that even then He continued "speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God"
Act 1:3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

See also how John the Baptist commanded people to repent, announcing that "the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" (Matthew 3:2). The disciples continued to proclaim the Kingdom after His crucifixion. The importance of Jesus Christ's life, sacrifice and resurrection was a vital part of the message taught by the apostles. The apostle Peter made this clear in his first public preaching on the day of Pentecost after the miraculous outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He had a new boldness because the Holy Spirit was empowering him.

Look at those verses. Surely this was the full gospel of the Kingdom.

Mar 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Here we see instructions to take the gospel message, to see people healed spiritually and physically. I believe this applies to us today too.

This was the Lord’s promise to the disciples.

14:12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Joh 14:13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Joh 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

The prayer Paul prayed for the Ephesians here I am sure he would pray for us also.

Eph 1:15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
Eph 1:16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:
Eph 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
Eph 1:18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
Eph 1:20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
Eph 1:21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
Eph 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,
Eph 1:23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
All things are under His feet V22.

1Pe 3:22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.

All powers and authorities are subject to Him.

Rev 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.
He is the ruler of the kings of this earth, although they may not acknowledge Him

Rev 2:26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations--
Rev 2:27 "He shall rule them with a rod of iron;
They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels'
He has power to rule the nations with a rod of iron

1Ti 6:15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
1Ti 6:16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords

1Th 2:10 You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe;
1Th 2:11 as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,
1Th 2:12 that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

We are called into the Kingdom and His glory.

Eph 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

We have every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places for we are in Christ.

Eph 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise to the praise of His glory.

Col 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love

Heb 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

We are received into the Kingdom.

Rev 1:9 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called
Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

We are companions in the Kingdom.

1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

We need to confess Jesus as Lord

Psa 110:1 The LORD said to my Lord,
"Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool."
Psa 110:2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of
Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
Psa 110:3 Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,
You have the dew of Your youth.

We need to submit ourselves to our Lord in the day of His power, which is the here and now.

We are forgiven.

Col 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
Col 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Rev 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth.

We are cared for and God is our provider.

6:25 "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
6:26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
6:27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
6:28 "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
Mat 6:29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Mat 6:30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
6:31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?' or "What shall we drink?' or "What shall we wear?'
6:32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

We are part of the church family

Col 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. .

He has given us His Spirit.

Joh 7:37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
Joh 7:38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
Joh 7:39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified

Act 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

14:17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

We are drawing closer to this day for the gospel message is touching nations throughout the world.

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
We are called to preach the gospel of the kingdom, the full gospel.

. Luk 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires t o come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

We are not promised \an easy road, but when we follow Jesus we can be assured that he is with us every step of the way.
Being born again is not the ultimate goal of the gospel; it is the beginning of the greatest quest and journey toward the full maturity of what we are called to be. It is now time for the Church to go on to maturity, and this must begin with our message. It is the greatest message of hope, but also a call to battle.

Gal 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,

Kingdom living is walking in the Spirit, our lives are changed.

The gospel of the kingdom leads to true salvation, which is why the Lord Jesus Himself preached this gospel, as well as the first century apostles. Redemption, healing, reconciliation, and restoration are all part of the gospel of the kingdom, and these are reasons for which the kingdom is coming. The gospel of the kingdom does include much more than the salvation of believers for it is the message that the rightful King is coming to take over lives.

Jesus said we were to take the gospel of the Kingdom, He said we were to make disciples of all nations.

The message of the Kingdom is life changing.

We need to put Religious pomp and ceremony aside, and replace it by the reality of the joy, power and love of intimate relationship with God and with fellow believers. The focus on "me" and "my needs" should become a focus on God and His desires. Our will should fade into His will We should seek His will. Our ways should begin to transcend into His way. Only man is made in the image of God and today can be filled with the life of the Spirit of the resurrected Christ. Only man has the God-given place to rule and reign with Christ on earth because of who we are in Christ. We have an authority that comes from Christ to go into battle against the forces of darkness, for the battle has already been won by our Savior. I want to live in the reality of Kingdom living, I want to walk the walk, draw closer to my King and serve Him in the here and now.

Remember we have the promise of the future Kingdom too, but that's a topic for another day.
