Guidance, where can we get this?
Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Joh 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you
How are we to interpret and understand the scriptures better, is it from reading loads of commentaries then making up our minds which we think is right? Is it through attending church, attending conferences, seminars or visiting sites like this on the web?
I don't think so all those things are great but first and foremost we need to be open to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Since the day of Pentecost believers have had the wonderful privillege of having the indwelling Holy Spirit.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: Prior to Pentecost it is true theSpirit would come upon Godly men. Now in this the Church age we have the wonderful privillege if we have truly given our hearts to the Lord of having the Holy Spirit actually indwell us.It is he who will guide us into truth as long as we do not quench the Spirit, we have to be open to His leading.
1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. It is the Holy Spirit within us that will help us and guide us to proclaim the Christian Gospel, to witness to others. It is the Holy Spirit who can lead us into interpreting what the Scriptures are actually saying to us, including in mattersv of prophecy as to what is right. Now he may help us to open our eyes through the words of others and their interpretation of certain Scriptures, but we have to be open to his leading. The word of God is the first place to start when we wish to find the answer to anything, pray to the Lord, ask for guidance. He will help us to munderstand even matters of Prophecy.
1Th
As long as we do not quench the Spirit within us, we can grow in understanding.
He shall glorify me the Spirit of God within us ministers to us.
for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you
He will help us to understand the doctrines of the Gospel and the deep things of God and lead us into a closer walk with Christ our Lord as long as we are open to his leading.
To summarise here in what I am saying, is that we should always remember that we have the Holy Spirit for guidance in all areas of our lives whether it be for interpreting Scriptures or knowing God's calling in our lives.
GUIDANCE
Lord , you know I love to dance with you,
But sometimes I forget that you guide that dance,
So dear Lord I ask you to guide all my footsteps,
So I will not run ahead or lag behind your steps.
Let my heart beat with your heartbeat,
Teach me to walk fully in your ways,
Help me to spend time sitting at your feet,
I want to know so much more of you I pray.
So Lord let me remember that word guidance,
That I might keep in step following the Lord of the dance,
Guide my steps, that I might live for you alone,
Keep me walking in step with you and dont let me roam.
